Our favourite face painting designs (and why kids love them)
We’ve painted hundreds (probably thousands!) of little faces over the years, and if there’s one thing we know – kids know what they like. Some designs get requested again and again, and we never get tired of doing them because every child brings their own little twist.
Here are a few of our all-time favourites — and why they’re always a hit at parties:
🐯 The Classic Tiger
There’s just something about tigers! Bold, fierce, and a little wild — this is the #1 pick for kids who want to roar, chase their friends, and rule the jungle gym. We can go full bright-orange and black, or switch it up with pink and glittery stripes for extra sass.
🦋 Butterflies in Every Colour
Graceful, magical, and totally customisable — butterflies are our go-to when a little one wants something “pretty and sparkly.” We love blending soft pastels, rainbow gradients, and shimmering highlights. And the best part? Every butterfly face is unique, just like the kids wearing them.
🧜♀️ Mermaids & Sea Magic
If they’ve seen Ariel, it’s over. Mermaids are always a favourite with dreamy ocean colours, glittery scales, pearls and seashell designs. Sometimes they ask for dolphins, jellyfish, or even a full underwater scene. (We say yes.)

Dinosaurs are for the bold and the brave! Whether it’s a fierce T-Rex jaw down the cheek or a full dino crown on the forehead, kids LOVE stomping around and scaring the grown-ups. We’ve even done neon dinos for glow parties — rawr!

You know the one. Red, black webbing, that classic look. We always keep our Spidey designs ready, and yes — they do give the kids imaginary wall-climbing powers. (You’re welcome.)
